About Me

I’ve always had a love of writing and reading. It’s fun to pull out something I wrote years ago to see where my thoughts on life were at the time. Many of them will get revived or used to springboard ideas that I will publish as books or in other forms.

I write fantasy and science fiction in a variety of lengths from flash fiction to novels. I have two flash fictions published this year at https://www.gohavok.com. My romantic fantasy novel won a contest in 2021 and after extensive editing based on the critique and two rounds of beta readers, it is now pitched in the hopes of having it picked up by a publisher.

I have also published two devotions and have written three take home pieces included in the yearly women’s conference hosted by my church.

It is my hope through my sharing you are inspired to dig deeper and find peace with who you were made to be. I want your to find your dream and take courage in it no matter what the world may say. I’m still on my journey to reach my dream of improving my writing in order to publish books.

A Bit of History

I grew up on a dairy farm. I gained aptitude to fix things and understand animals. I had a very artistic mother that inspired us to try new things. I learned the violin, took creative writing and grammar classes, and a variety of art classes. But I also excelled at math and science in school.

I spent my career in two different fields, both of which led me to engineering, technical writing and more knowledge of how things work. In the background was always the desire to write stories, which I did plenty of. I have taken classes in writing of all types and been in a variety of writing groups over the years. I had the honor of beta testing an on-line writing course setup by Jerry Jenkins called Your Novel Blueprint. I’m still working on improving my writing and learning how the digital age has changed publishing and how we consume books.

I proudly take on the titles of geek and nerd. I do not see negative connotations to these words. It just means I love learning and squeal about mechanical and computer stuff.

I have always loved games that make you think and have a world you can dive into. This has led to playing a variety of table top, live action and computer games. I have also been a game tester and written a variety of articles about games in a magazine organized by a gaming community I belonged to.

I am now on disability due to Multiple Sclerosis but I do my best to enjoy life and keep on writing as I am inspired. Some of my sharing will be how I deal with this unpredictable and chronic disease. I know God never meant anyone to have a horrible disease like this but plenty of good has come from it. I’ve learned a lot about who I am and what I still need to do to become a better person and fit the mold God meant me to.

Best of all, God gave me a husband that can deal with a nerdy writer and gamer who does her best to enjoy life though I may not always be the peach.

Let’s not forget the new additions to the household June of 2022, Boots and Jenny. They are crazy kittens from a litter born to a feral cat under a shed at my sister’s mother-in-law’s.

Jenny and Boots, my kittens

I welcome you to come along with me on my journey and share your own experiences and insights.
